Tyre compounds, coming this Monday

The new tyre compounds coming to iGP (Super Soft and Medium) will be launched this Monday 14th July at 12:00 GMT. We feel it would be too short notice to expect managers to update their settings within 1-2 hours of a race, which is why we will also be postponing races due between 12:00 GMT and 14:00 GMT on this date to the next available calendar slot. The service may be offline for maintenence during this time.

New interface

I have also been working on a new interface for the web game of iGP Manager (meaning: not including the race viewers). We would love to hear your feedback. Take a look at the screenshots below and let us know if there is anything you would like to see changed about either the current interface, or improvement suggestions for the (work in progress) interface preview.

Interface FAQ

  • Will the new interface be compatible with mobile devices?
    Yes
  • Will the race viewers also be compatible with mobile devices?
No, unless they support Java (most devices such as Android and iPhones don't support Java by default)
  • Why is a new interface being designed?
To de-clutter and simplify the game, and also make it easier to set up for races on mobile phones
  • It looks a bit simple, do you have any plans to spice it up?
We would like to add "cut-scenes"...
  • Will the front page at igpmanager.com also be redesigned?
Yes, but we are keeping that design under wraps for now. :)
  • Shouldn't you be working on other things?!
Rest assured that my work on the interface has not been at the expense of anyone else's work on other areas of iGP. Work continues on the simulator bugs and more. We're also aiming to shift a lot of our resources to focusing on those issues almost exclusively in the near future.

I've noted it for investigation when we get a chance. Is this the race you mean? http://igpmanager.com/play/?url=race-result/393040/308282

Hi Jack,

My added up time was 42:07.908

My opponent added up was 42:20.546

giving a 00:12.638 difference

yet the race results display me with 42:10.067 with a 00:11.998 gap to my opponent

The race was season 2 race 12 Belgium, I cant seem to see where you store the race id?

Thanks for looking into it, I know its a small amount but if that's wrong then it makes you wonder what other times are out.

Hi Stanley, do you have a link to the race ID in question? We'll take a look at it.

What was your view on the race result data? Eg heats, section times etc

The example I worked out was 0.64 sec difference between the added up value and the race result value. I know it's not massive but iv won and lost races with less time so it would be interesting to see which was the more acurate value. These values were rounded to 3 places as is in the game. Thanks

Please consider how the interface works on a tablet. Currently the menus are hard to work on Android.

James May - It's too low priority for now. We have some bigger tasks to do.

Christian - (1) Not currently, for technical reasons, not for lack of desire, we want to do this too (2) I didn't realise the term had changed, but I prefer that so I'll get it updated at some point.

Stanley - How far off are they from matching? It might be because of rounding if the difference is tiny.

John - Normally numbers are right-aligned, but in this case since they are all the same size, I can do that.
